With one day, pick a single signature outing — the Western Brook Pond boat tour is the classic choice — and build the rest of the day around it close to town. Don't try to also fit in the south side; the driving alone rules it out.
Morning
Start early at Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, a short walk right at the edge of town, then drive north about 25 minutes to Western Brook Pond. Book the boat tour ahead of time — it's the single most in-demand activity in the park. The walk in from the parking lot is about 3 km return on flat gravel and boardwalk, roughly 45 minutes each way; see our Western Brook Pond guide for tour timing.
Midday
If the boat tour is fully booked or not running, swap in Baker's Brook Falls instead — a 10 km return trail from the same general area, starting at Berry Hill Campground about 10 minutes from Rocky Harbour.
Afternoon
Head back toward town with a stop at Broom Point if it's staffed for the season, or the easy Berry Hill Pond Trail loop if you want something short and low-effort to close out the hiking for the day.
Evening
Dinner in Rocky Harbour — see our where to eat guide — followed by the harbourfront for sunset. Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse is also a strong second visit in evening light if you have energy left.
